Oklahoma Wesleyan women's tennis is in the KCAC tournament semifinals after a win in the opening round over Kansas Wesleyan in a sweep on Thursday, 4-0.

The Lady Eagles picked up the crucial doubles point by sweeping the doubles matches. The pair of Rocio Espinal and Jewel Henderson cruised to a 6-0 sweep, Nancy Henderson and Madeline Henderson dominated their doubles match, 6-2.

In singles, the same three Henderson sisters won their singles matches to complete the sweep and advance to the next round.

Head coach Julia Mongin says it's a big jump from a season ago.

Mongin was named KCAC Coach of the Year going into the tournament. Espinal was named the KCAC Freshman of the Year and made the all-conference first team. Nancy, Jewel and Madeline Henderson were all honorable mentions.

As a team, the Lady Eagles finished the season 17-5 in dual action and 10-2 in conference play, good for third in the KCAC.

OKWU heads into the semifinals on Friday against the 2-seed Bethel College at Smoky Valley High School in Lindsborg, KS. Start time is set for 2 p.m.
