The Cherokee Nation recently held its yearly Community and Cultural Outreach Conference in Tulsa with around 650 Cherokee Nation citizens attending in person and virtually. Leaders from both those on the Reservation and at-large participated in the yearly conference to learn about the history of the Cherokee Nation.

Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. had the following to say on the ongoing efforts to share the history of the Cherokee Nation:

"I have always believed that we can't build Cherokee communities from the top down. Instead, we must build them from the grassroots up. Our Cherokee community organizations around the country provide us with an important source for building from the grassroots level."

At the conference, Hoskin said a grant worth nearly $1.3 million will put power generators in Cherokee Nation community buildings across the reservation.
