South Coffeyville Mayor Dies

Nowata County 911 Coordinator and Mayor of South Coffeyville Jerome Gnatek died on Saturday, Feb. 28, in Bartlesville.

Gnatek was born on Nov. 11, 1945, in Somerset, New Jersey. He served in the U.S. Army for four years, stationed in Korea and Alaska. He attended Coffeyville Community College upon his honorable discharge and earned his associate's degree. He graduated from Kansas State College at Pittsburg in 1971.
 
Gnatek served as the 911 Coordinator for Nowata County for eight years and served in multiple positions in the city council for South Coffeyville.
 
Gnatek was 80 years old.
