Copan Thanks Seniors for Football Progress

Day two of week two – high school football practice across Green Country, as teams are getting set for scrimmages against outside competition starting on Thursday and Friday.

At Copan, the Hornets continue to work with impressive numbers and expectations this fall.

Copan is under the direction of first year head coach Trenton Kallenberger. The South Coffeyville native is in his fifth season at Copan overall, but first as head coach after the departure of former head coach Marshall Foreman this past offseason.

A group of five seniors, four of which have been around since the beginning have orchestrated one of the best storylines in local football over the past five years. Copan went from having to co-op to have a program - to hosting a playoff game last year.

Kallenberger says those seniors deserve the credit.

Copan is one of the local districts with only four days of school, which allowed the Hornets to have a lock-in on Thursday night into Friday last week. The lock-in gave the team some extra bonding time and a chance to have a couple padded practices before late Friday.

Kallenberger talks about it.

Copan is likely going to scrimmage Welch this Friday before the Hornet’s season opener against Midway at home on Zero Week, Aug. 29.

We had Kallenberger and Copan senior Teegen Caron live at on our Coach’s Breakfast on Saturday, it is archived on KWONTV.com.
