Nowata golf has been on a heater this spring, and with regionals coming up we look at the season the Ironmen and Lady Ironmen have put together to this point.

Things got started on the guys side on March 11 at a tournament in Sapulpa at Rock Creek Golf Course. Nowata finished sixth. Later in the week, Nowata finished 16th at a tournament at Heritage Hills Golf Course in Claremore.

Two weeks later, the girls golf season got underway in Cleveland. Three Lady Ironmen shot a personal best, and senior standout Nevaeh Foster finished 19th overall.

Since late March, the Nowata guys have been hot. Nowata hosted a tournament on March 27 and came in third as a team. Jackson Hurd finished first individually.

Following up the excellent performance, Nowata won their next two tournaments, one at Flint Ridge Golf Course in Kansas, OK, and the other at Keystone Golf Club in Cleveland.

In Kansas, Jackson Hurd again finished at the top of the leaderboard with Kason Summers finishing second. In Cleveland, Brett Malone led the way with a third place finish. Summers came in fifth, Hurd finished 10th.

Head coach Homer Johnston spoke about watching some of his guys swing the club before the season started.

The Nowata girls recently wrapped up a tournament of their own at Flint Ridge and finished fourth.

In Nowata's most recent tournament on Thursday, the Nowata guys finished fourth. Hurd, Summers and Malone all finished in the top 10. On the girls side, Foster finished eighth with Kahlyn Reese coming in 10th.

Nowata girls golf will head to The Coves Golf Club in Afton for regionals on April 23. Nowata boys golf will head to regionals on April 30.
